दिनदहाड़े घूमते जीवित भूत, अब तक आपने भूत को किसी साये की तरह देखा होगा परन्तु कुछ चलते-फिरते भूत दिनदहाड़े बाहर घूमते हैं। ये किसी को भी छू लें तो उनकी मौत हो जाती है। ये भूत साउथ अफ्रीका के एक देश “बेनिन” में कभी-कभी देखे जाते हैं। इन भूतों का नाम “इगनगन” है। ये इगनगन तरह-तरह की डरावनी आवाजें भी निकालते हैं।
इनकी आवाजें तीखी होती है और ये जो कुछ भी बोलते हैं वो गांव वालों की समझ में नहीं आता है। इनके हाथों में ड्रम होता है इसलिए गांव वाले इन्हें ‘ड्रमर’ भी कहते हैं। ये चलते फिरते भूत आखिर करते क्या हैं। वास्तव में बेनिन के रहने वाले ये भूत खुद को अपने “पूर्वजों की आत्मा” बताते हैं। इनका मानना है कि इनका जन्म फिर से हुआ है ताकि ये अपने पूर्वजों की परंपरा को बनाए रख सकें।
इनका काम लोगों में चल रहे विवादों को खत्म करना है। बेनिन के रहने वाले आम लोगों ने इनकी वेशभूषा और इनकी अजीबो-गरीब आवाज सुनकर इन्हें “इगनगन” भूत का नाम दे रखा है। ये “इगनगन” अपने परिधान को अपने पूर्वजों की ताकत मानते हैं।
उनका कहना है कि इस परिधान से ही उन्हें उनकी पहचान और ताकत मिलती है। गांव वाले ऐसा विश्वास करते हैं कि अगर ये इगनगन उन्हें छू लेते हैं तो वो लोग मर जाएंगे, लेकिन ऐसा होता नहीं है।
